Tile repair near Stella

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage

Tile repair at your home in Stella

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. We regularly repair floor and wall tiles, natural stone & granite and marble, and the jobs we see most are chips from dropped pans and tools and cracked floor tiles.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • We leave the room as we found it

How we price tile repair

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole tiled area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The material, if you know it

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
