Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Stella. What changes the price is:
- Access to the area
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How much damage there is
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Stella. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:
- A picture taken from further back
- Natural light rather than flash
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
How we handle shower tray repair in Stella
We check the tray before repairing it: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, otherwise any crack returns. We’ll tell you if that’s the case. Common call-outs are for damage from a refit or building work and chips on the edges, on cast iron, enamelled steel and ceramic.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Questions from Stella
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.
Is a cracked shower tray safe to use?
It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, because water may be getting underneath.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
Can a stained tray be refinished?
Yes. We can resurface the entire tray for a fresh finish without removing it.
What happens if you find more damage?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

How it works
On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
- The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
- We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
- The repair is colour matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
- We leave it to cure; the shower is normally usable the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Let us know about parking or access

DIY kit or professional repair?
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Repairing versus replacing in Stella
Replacing a tray normally means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. Repairing it avoids all of that and costs far less. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Repairs by material
Enamelled steel
Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.
Acrylic
Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so good support matters. We repair cracks and scratches.
Aftercare tips
It’s all simple stuff:
- Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
- Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
- Keep the bathroom well ventilated
- Report any creaking or movement early
Rinse the tray down after showering, clean with mild cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.
Don’t keep using a cracked tray. Water can get through to the floor and walls, where it causes damage you can’t see.
Honest limits
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A tray that moves underfoot
- A tray broken in more than one place
- Leaking waste fittings
If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
Materials we repair
- Ceramic
- Acrylic
- Enamelled steel
- Cast iron
- Stone resin
Common problems we fix in Stella
Rigid trays do not bend, they crack when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Timber floors that move can cause it too.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- A tray that flexes
- Chips caused during fitting
- Scratches from cleaning or grit
- Chips on the edges
