Can you fill holes left by old fittings?

Yes. Drill holes from old rails and shelves are a common job.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Often, yes, if it is not loose.

What does tile repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Which areas do you work in?

All of the Scottish Borders, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How we handle tile repair in Stow

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will tell you. The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. We regularly repair porcelain tiles, floor and wall tiles and ceramic tiles, and the jobs we see most are chips from dropped pans and tools and drill holes from removed fittings.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

  • Natural stone & granite

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Stow. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Stow use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in the Scottish Borders and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
