Tile repair in Tweedbank, done in place

We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will tell you. Common call-outs are for discontinued tiles you can’t replace and damaged tile edges, across marble, natural stone & granite and porcelain tiles.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Tweedbank and across the Scottish Borders. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Tweedbank. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Tweedbank: your questions answered

Do you cover the whole of the Scottish Borders?

All of the Scottish Borders, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What about drill holes in tiles?

Yes. We fill drill holes from removed fittings.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Do you cover Tweedbank?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Tweedbank for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

10 questions to ask before booking

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it keeps the original tile. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Tweedbank. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, including clearing up.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
