Tile repair for Viables homes

About our tile repair in Viables

We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. We work on floor and wall tiles, porcelain tiles and ceramic tiles, and the jobs we see most are chips from dropped pans and tools and cracked floor tiles.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the whole tiled area
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Viables, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

  • Damaged tile edges

  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Discontinued tiles you can’t replace

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

Replacing a tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Viables. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Questions from Viables

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed price includes everything.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Viables included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

Advice

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Natural stone & granite
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Porcelain tiles
