How we handle toilet chip repair in Fairfield

Chips are rebuilt and colour-matched to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. A crack that leaks cannot be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we will tell you if that is what we find. We are often asked to fix chips on the cistern lid and chips on the pan or rim, on cisterns & lids, toilet pans and pedestals.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Avoid dropping heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

Before and after: a damaged toilet pan restored by Surface Doctor

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take an hour or two. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean and dry the damaged area.
  2. We fill and rebuild missing material to the original shape.
  3. It’s sanded flush.
  4. We colour-match and finish the glaze.
  5. We polish the repair to blend it in.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Fairfield: your questions answered

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you repair a chipped toilet?

Yes. We repair chips on pans, rims, cisterns and lids.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Fairfield and the rest of Stockton-on-Tees. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Do you come to Fairfield?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Fairfield. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the whole toilet
  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

If you’re in Fairfield and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Stockton-on-Tees and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new toilet means a plumber and possibly new flooring, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip keeps the toilet you have. Our toilet chip repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Toilet pans
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Pedestals
  • Vitreous china
  • Porcelain

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
