About our toilet chip repair in Fulwood

Chips are rebuilt and colour matched to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we will say so if we find one. Common call-outs are for chips on the cistern lid and pieces knocked off during fitting, on cisterns & lids, toilet pans and porcelain.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work. Take care with heavy items and clean the outside of the pan gently.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a toilet needs a plumber and possibly new flooring, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. Repairing the chip leaves it in place. Our toilet chip repair starts from £95. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

What you get with us

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the work takes an hour or two. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned and dried.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. Finally we polish it into the surrounding glaze.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

When to call us in Fulwood

Most toilet chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted, or from a dropped lid or bottle. Cistern lids are a common casualty.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Marks on the outside of the pan
  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Damage from dropped items
  • Chips on the cistern lid

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • When it can be used again
  • How the colour is matched
  • Who turns up on the day

Choosing a repair company

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Porcelain
  • Vitreous china
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Toilet pans
  • Pedestals

What toilet chip repair costs

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it

Upload pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your PR2 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Fulwood: your questions answered

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can a chipped toilet be fixed?

Yes. We repair chips on pans, rims, cisterns and lids.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
