When we would advise against a repair

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Toilet pans
  • Pedestals
  • Porcelain
  • Cisterns & lids
  • Vitreous china

About our toilet chip repair in Jock's Lodge

We rebuild the damaged area and match it to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. Leaking cracks need the toilet replacing, and we will say so if we find one. We work on cisterns & lids, toilet pans and pedestals, and common reasons people get in touch are marks on the outside of the pan and pieces knocked off during fitting.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee. Take care with heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

Before and after: a damaged toilet pan restored by Surface Doctor

What toilet chip repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material
  • The type of damage
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your EH7 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Repair or replace in Jock's Lodge?

A new toilet means a plumber and sometimes new flooring around the pan, and the matching cistern may be discontinued. Repairing the chip leaves it in place. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Questions from Jock's Lodge

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

What happens after I send photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

How much does toilet chip repair cost in Jock's Lodge?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.
