Worktop repair in Birches Head, done in place

A damaged worktop does not have to mean a new kitchen. The damage is filled and refinished so it blends into the pattern. We regularly repair quartz, solid wood and laminate, and common reasons people contact us are burns from hot pans and damage to a stone worktop.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Should you replace it?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing a section takes time and money. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Do not leave spills to soak in
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Signs you need worktop repair in Birches Head

Cut-outs for the sink and hob are the weakest parts, and that’s where cracks frequently begin.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Scorch marks from pans
  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Scratches and knife marks

Questions to ask before booking

  • What preparation is included
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What aftercare is recommended

How to compare quotes

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
