Worktop repair in Bistre without replacing anything
Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. We build up the colour and flecks by hand so the repair blends in. We regularly repair solid wood, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people contact us are a chipped quartz edge and chipped corners.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
What worktop repair costs
Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Bistre. The price reflects:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- What the surface is made of
We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
How to get a fixed price
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:
- Details of any past repairs
- The material, if you know it
- A picture taken from further back
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
What we do, step by step
Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.
- First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
- We cut back any burnt or loose material.
- The area is filled and shaped.
- The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
- It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure the area is dry
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Have a window or extractor fan available

Should you replace it?
Replacing even one length of worktop means templating, cutting, fitting and often a new sink and hob connection. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

- Same prices wherever you are
See our prices page.
How to care for the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Steer clear of strong cleaners
- Keep wood oiled
- Don’t let water sit on joints
- Take care with heavy pans near edges
Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.
A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.
When a repair is not the answer
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- A cracked stone top that is unsupported
- Laminate that has blown or swollen
- Discolouration deep in quartz
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Laminate
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Solid wood
- Quartz
- Granite & marble
Different materials, different repairs
Granite and stone
Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.
Quartz
Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. Edge chips are very common, and we fill and polish them.

Bistre: your questions answered
Do you come to Bistre?
We do. Technicians travel to Bistre from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes, frequently. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
What happens after I send pictures?
You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. You are under no obligation.
Can you match the pattern on my worktop?
Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.
Common problems we fix in Bistre
Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans scorch, knives cut, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Knife marks
- Chips on edges and corners
- Gouges in the surface
- Chips in quartz or granite
