Worktop repair near Crank

Worktop repair in Crank, done in place

Worktops are expensive to replace and hard to match, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. Common call-outs are for cuts and scratches in the surface and a heat mark or burn, on quartz, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Discolouration deep in quartz

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Crank questions

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which typically takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Should you replace it?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing a section takes time and money. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One visit for most repairs

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep wood oiled
  • Use a chopping board
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Keep a trivet by the hob

Keep joints and the sink edge dry, particularly with laminate and timber.

A chip on an edge can grow, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What affects the price in Crank

Prices start from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Crank. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A photo taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most customers in Crank get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
