How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Ditcheat. The price depends on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire worktop, we can price the job.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Somerset and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Different materials, different repairs

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

Should you replace it?

Replacing even one length of worktop means templating, cutting, fitting and frequently a new sink and hob connection. A repair takes a few hours and leaves everything in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Do not knock pans against the edge

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.
