Worktop repair for Dukes homes

Worktop repair in Dukes without replacing anything

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. We’re frequently asked to fix a chipped quartz edge and a damaged sink edge, across granite & marble, solid wood and laminate.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Dukes. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Dukes. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • A cracked stone top that’s unsupported

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Dukes

  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

When to call us in Dukes

Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • A chipped edge
  • Chips caused during installation
  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • A heat mark or burn

What to look for in a quote

  • How to look after the finish
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Dukes questions

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How much do I need to move?

Only around the repair. You can normally still use the rest of the kitchen.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand so it blends in.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Do you cover Dukes?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Dukes and the rest of Herefordshire. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

Often, yes. The burn is cut back, filled and patterned to match.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Use a chopping board

Keep joints and the sink edge dry, especially on laminate and wood.

Don’t leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is usually far better value. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
