Worktop repair in Dundee

About our worktop repair in Dundee

Different worktops need different repairs: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. The goal is always a repair that blends in. Whether it’s cuts and scratches in the surface and chips near the sink, we can normally put it right.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair is not always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • A cracked stone top that’s unsupported

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Repairs by material

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.

What we’re called out for in Dundee

Most chips are on edges and corners, usually from pans, tins or dishes knocked against them.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A chipped edge
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • Chips caused during installation
  • Scorch marks from pans

How to compare quotes

What affects the price in Dundee

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Dundee use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Dundee: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Dundee and the rest of Dundee. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

We match colour, flecks and veining by hand, for a repair that blends in.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Clean spills immediately
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.
