Worktop repair in Greenlooms

Worktop repair in Greenlooms without replacing anything

Burns from hot pans, chips on edges and scratches from knives make up most of our worktop work. We repair them all in your kitchen. Our repair technicians work on solid wood, granite & marble and laminate, and the jobs we see most are chipped corners and damage to a stone worktop.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Greenlooms as everywhere else we work.

FAQs for Greenlooms

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What does worktop repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. We repair quartz chips regularly, filled and polished to match.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Greenlooms included. Travel is included in the price.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Severe heat marks in quartz

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. We fill and polish chipped edges.

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Quotes from your photos

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the entire worktop
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in Greenlooms, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Our worktop repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe spills immediately, and keep wooden tops oiled.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Greenlooms use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
