Bath repair near Greenlooms

Bath repair in Greenlooms, done in place

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and common reasons people get in touch are a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and chips on the rim or sides.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Acrylic bath corner rebuilt by Surface Doctor, before and after

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Repair or replace in Greenlooms?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

When we’d advise against a repair

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send pictures for a quote

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Most clients in Greenlooms get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What we’re called out for in Greenlooms

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A chipped rim or side
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting

How to compare quotes

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Small chips are quick to repair. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so early repair saves time and money.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
