Worktop repair in Holme Lacy

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. There is no area surcharge for Holme Lacy. The price reflects:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole worktop, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

How we handle worktop repair in Holme Lacy

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. We build up the colour and flecks by hand. We are often asked to fix chips on edges and corners and chips near the sink, in solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Holme Lacy and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Don’t leave spills to soak in
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and keep wooden tops oiled.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

Different materials, different repairs

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, with burns and dents put right.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
