What your worktop is made of matters

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Worktop repair in Lady's Well, done in place

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. We always aim for a repair that blends in. Our technicians work on solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and laminate, and the jobs we see most are a heat mark or burn and chips on edges and corners.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Lady's Well and across East Ayrshire.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Lady's Well. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

When to call us in Lady's Well

The worst damage often happens in a moment: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Snagging damage in a new kitchen
  • Chips in quartz or granite
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • Chipped corners

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

Common questions in Lady's Well

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across East Ayrshire.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Just clear the area around the damage. The rest is covered and protected.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole worktop and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?

Yes. We match the colour and polish the repair.

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Lady's Well, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lady's Well use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Use a chopping board

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

When we would advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Lady's Well

  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a few hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
