About our worktop repair in Laira

A worktop repair is carried out in your kitchen, with the rest of the kitchen protected. Most repairs take a few hours, and the worktop can be used again soon after. We are often asked to fix knife marks and a heat mark or burn, on laminate, solid surface (such as Corian) and quartz.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Never put hot pans down directly

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
