How we handle worktop repair in Langore

A damaged worktop does not have to mean a new kitchen. We fill and refinish the damage to blend into the surface around it. If you’re dealing with scorch marks from pans and chips caused during installation, we can help.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Langore: your questions answered

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

What does worktop repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item and your postcode.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

Frequently, yes. The burn is cut back, filled and patterned to match.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Even if you could get the same laminate, it may not match after years of light and use. We match the repair to your worktop as it is today. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz

How it works

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed and polished to match.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Damage near the sink is worth repairing quickly, because water gets in and swells the board.
