Honest limits
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Laminate swollen by water from underneath
- Failed support under the worktop
- Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.
Materials we repair
- Quartz
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Solid wood
- Laminate
- Granite & marble
Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Repairs by material
Laminate
Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.
Granite and stone
Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.
Should you replace it?
A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How the visit works
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
- We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
- We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
- The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
- We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Little Steeping: your questions answered
Can a quartz edge be fixed?
Yes. Chips on edges and around the sink are very common repairs, matched and polished.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
Can you repair a burn in a worktop?
In most cases. A picture lets us check what’s possible.
What do you need from me?
Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire worktop and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.
Which areas do you work in?
Everywhere in the UK, Little Steeping included. There is no extra charge for travel.
Can you match granite flecks?
We match colour, flecks and veining by hand, for a repair that blends in.
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- How many items we do on one visit
- What kind of damage it is
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- How easy the damage is to reach
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Little Steeping. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send pictures for a quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Natural light rather than flash
- The material, if you know it
- One picture of the whole worktop
Most customers in Little Steeping get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
