About our worktop repair in Marden Beech

Different worktops need different repairs: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. We always aim for a repair that blends in. We work on solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and quartz, and the jobs we see most are chipped corners and damage to a stone worktop.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge
  • Do not let water sit on joints
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage

Related advice

What your worktop is made of matters

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Granite & marble

Common questions in Marden Beech

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes. We recreate the pattern by hand.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

Usually, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Marden Beech is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
