Worktop repair for New Invention homes

Worktop repair in New Invention without replacing anything

The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand. Our repair technicians work on quartz, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people get in touch are damage to a stone worktop and a chipped edge.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

FAQs for New Invention

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Are there extra charges for New Invention?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do you cover New Invention?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to New Invention and the rest of Wolverhampton. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Only the area we are working on. The rest is covered and protected.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

Normally. A photo lets us check what’s possible.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Send pictures for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • What it’s made of, if you know

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Our hiring checklist

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Ask for a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Related advice

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. Edge chips are very common, and we fill and polish them to match the sheen.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Clean spills right away
  • Keep wood oiled

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
