Worktop repair in Newtown

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

About our worktop repair in Newtown

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. We always aim for a repair that blends in. Our technicians work on solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and quartz, and common reasons people get in touch are cuts and scratches in the surface and chipped corners.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

How it works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Clean spills immediately
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Do not cut directly on the worktop
  • Re-oil timber worktops

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and keep wooden tops oiled.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

What worktop repair costs

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately whether it can be repaired.

Should you replace it?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing a section takes time and money. A repair takes a few hours. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business

  • No extra charge for your area

Newtown questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Suffolk.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

In most cases. Send us a picture and we will tell you what’s possible.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you work in Newtown?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Newtown and the rest of Suffolk. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can a quartz edge be fixed?

Yes. The repair is colour-matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Do you need worktop repair in Newtown?

Most chips are on edges and corners, usually from pans, tins or dishes knocked against them.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • Chips near the sink
  • A chipped quartz edge

Before you book anyone

  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • What happens if they find more damage

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
