How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Old Dolphin. The price reflects:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Old Dolphin. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • Where you are, by postcode

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repair or replace in Old Dolphin?

Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing one section is a big job. A repair takes a few hours. Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How it works

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a morning or an afternoon, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

When to call us in Old Dolphin

Kitchen worktops have a hard life. Hot pans leave burns, knives leave scratches, and heavy pans chip the edges.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Chips near the sink
  • A chipped quartz edge
  • Dents and gouges
  • Scratches and knife marks

Comparing quotes

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price covers travel

Choosing a repair company

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz

Always use a trivet and chopping board, wipe spills immediately, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

Do not leave damage by the sink, because water gets in and swells the board.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
