Worktop repair in Packmoor

Worktop repair in Packmoor, done in place

A damaged worktop does not have to mean a new kitchen. The damage is filled and refinished so it blends into the pattern. We work on laminate, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble, and people most frequently call us about chips near the sink and dents and gouges.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Clean spills immediately
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

Landlord and trade work in Packmoor

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Water-swollen laminate
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz

Common questions in Packmoor

Do you work in Packmoor?

We do. We send a technician to Packmoor for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Just clear the area around the damage. The rest is covered and protected.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A wider photo showing the whole worktop
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs

Most customers in Packmoor get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Choosing a repair company

How it works

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. Edge chips are very common, and we fill and polish them to match the sheen.
