How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

How we handle worktop repair in Parkfields

Different worktops need different repairs: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. The goal is always a repair that blends in. We’re often asked to fix chips caused during installation and a damaged sink edge, across granite & marble, solid surface (such as Corian) and solid wood.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

What a repair can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Use a chopping board
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Quartz

Quartz is hard, but its edges are brittle. Chips are filled with tinted resin and polished to the worktop’s finish.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Quotes from your pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Repairing versus replacing in Parkfields

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and reconnecting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
