Your questions about worktop repair in Pathfinder Village

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

How much do I need to move?

Just near the damage. The rest of the kitchen stays usable.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you repair a burn in a worktop?

Generally. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do you work in Pathfinder Village?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Pathfinder Village. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Repair or replace in Pathfinder Village?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why us?

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Do you need worktop repair in Pathfinder Village?

The worst damage frequently happens in a moment: a hot pan set straight down, or a heavy pan catching the edge. Scratches build up gradually from knives and grit.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Chips near the sink
  • Dents and gouges
  • A chipped edge

What your quote should include

  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • How the room is protected while they work

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

What your worktop is made of matters

Quartz

Quartz is crushed stone bound with resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Severe heat marks in quartz
  • Through cracks in stone that is moving
  • A top that moves on its units

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Use a chopping board
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges
  • Dry around the sink and joints

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
