Your questions about worktop repair in Pelistry

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do I need to clear the kitchen?

Only around the repair. You can generally still use the rest of the kitchen.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

Normally, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What does worktop repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Worktop repair at your home in Pelistry

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, particularly where several lengths join. Repairing the damage keeps your kitchen as it is. We work on solid wood, solid surface (such as Corian) and granite & marble, and people most often call us about snagging damage in a new kitchen and a chipped quartz edge.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will come back.

Before and after: damaged granite tiles repaired in place

How the visit works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Make sure the area is dry

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Clean spills straight away
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

Should you replace it?

A new worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What your worktop is made of matters

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, and burns and dents repaired.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Water around the sink can get into laminate and wood joints, which can cause swelling.

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • A top that moves on its units
  • A cracked stone top that’s unsupported

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
