Worktop repair in Plains, done in place

Different worktops need different repairs: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. The goal is always a repair that blends in. We regularly repair solid wood, granite & marble and solid surface (such as Corian), and people most often call us about a damaged sink edge and scratches and knife marks.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in North Lanarkshire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Repair or replace in Plains?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, cutting and fitting a new one and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair keeps your existing worktop. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How to get a price

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Water-swollen laminate
  • A cracked stone top that’s unsupported
  • A top that moves on its units

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Use a chopping board
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Plains: your questions answered

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you match granite flecks?

We match colour, flecks and veining by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
