Each type of worktop needs a different approach: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. We always aim for a repair that blends in. Typical jobs include dents and gouges and damage around the sink cut-out, in laminate, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian).

Common questions in Preston
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.
Do the materials smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Do you work in Preston?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Preston and the rest of North Tyneside. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Can you quote from photos?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.
Can you repair a burn in a worktop?
Normally, yes. We remove the damaged surface, fill it and recreate the pattern.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Can pets and children be at home?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
The process
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- We protect the rest of the kitchen.
- We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
- We fill it and level it with the worktop.
- The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
- We seal and polish it to the right sheen.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Keep a parking space free if you can

How we price worktop repair
Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Preston. The price comes down to:
- How many areas need work
- How many items we do on one visit
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.
How to get a fixed quote
Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- One picture of the whole worktop
- Something in shot to show the size
For a price in Preston, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Do not let water sit on joints
- Re-oil timber worktops
- Steer clear of strong cleaners
- Don’t knock pans against the edge
Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe up spills promptly, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.
Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.
What we’re called out for in Preston
Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, and that can make them swell.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- A dent from a dropped pan
- Scorch marks from pans
- Chipped corners
- Knife marks

Should you replace it?
Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Preston. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Different materials, different repairs
Quartz
Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.
Wood
Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Laminate that has blown or swollen
- Discolouration deep in quartz
- A cracked stone top that’s unsupported
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Quartz
- Solid wood
- Laminate
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Granite & marble
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
