Common problems we fix in Rame
Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives cut, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.
Look out for these signs:
- A damaged sink edge
- Scorch marks from pans
- Chipped corners
- Damage to a stone worktop

Worktop repair in Rame without replacing anything
Each type of worktop needs a different approach: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. We always aim for a repair that blends in. We are often asked to fix chips near the sink and chipped corners, across laminate, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian).
All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Keep a trivet by the hob
- Clean spills straight away
- Don’t cut directly on the worktop
- Do not let water sit on joints
Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.
Don’t leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

What happens on the day
Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to look after it.
- We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
- We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
- We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
- We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
- The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.
Before we arrive
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

What affects the price in Rame
Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The type of damage
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Quotes from your photos
You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A wider photo showing the entire worktop
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.
What else we do in Rame
DIY repairs versus a professional job
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
Why repair rather than replace?
If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is typically far better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Repairs by material
Solid surface
Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.
Laminate
Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. We fill the damage and recreate the pattern.
