Bath re-enamelling in Rame, done in place
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and an outdated colour you’d like to change.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Rame as everywhere else we work.

Landlord and trade work in Rame
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cornwall and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Rame. The price comes down to:
- How many items we do on one visit
- The type of damage
- The colour and finish to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send photos for a quote
Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Common questions in Rame
Does someone need to be in?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
Will there be a smell?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
How long is the bath unusable?
Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.
How it works
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow most of the day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the day after.
How to prepare
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
How to get a price
To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Advice
Should you replace it?
There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- A bath that is rusted through
- A metal bath with a through crack
