Worktop repair in Roedean

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

About our worktop repair in Roedean

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. If you’re dealing with damage to a stone worktop and a dent from a dropped pan, we can help, on laminate, granite & marble and quartz alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Roedean. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material
  • How many areas need work

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, with your BN2 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. We fill and polish the repair to match the stone.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not cut directly on the worktop
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Landlord and trade work in Roedean

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Questions from Roedean

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How much do I need to move?

Just near the damage. You can generally still use the rest of the kitchen.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What do you need from me?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and reconnecting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. Repairing the damage keeps your existing worktop. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
