Worktop repair near Slack Head

Worktop repair at your home in Slack Head

Pan burns, chipped edges and knife scratches are the most common worktop repairs. We repair them all in your kitchen. We’re often asked to fix chips in quartz or granite and gouges in the surface, across quartz, solid wood and laminate.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the entire worktop

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a few hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Different materials, different repairs

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Wood

Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, with burns and dents put right.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

When to call us in Slack Head

Kitchen worktops have a hard life. Hot pans scorch, knives cut, and edges chip when heavy pans or tins hit them.

Common reasons people in Slack Head contact us include:

  • A damaged sink edge
  • Dents and gouges
  • Chipped corners
  • A heat mark or burn

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who turns up on the day

Choosing a repair company

Landlord and trade work in Slack Head

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new worktop means removing the old one, cutting and fitting a new one and reconnecting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
