Worktop repair in St Paul's, done in place

You do not need a new worktop because of one mark. We fill and refinish the damage so it blends into the pattern. We work on laminate, solid wood and granite & marble, and people most often call us about a chipped quartz edge and scratches and knife marks.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Questions from St Paul's

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Can you match granite flecks?

Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, for a repair that blends in.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, a repair is the better value. Our worktop repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • We leave the room as we found it

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Discolouration deep in quartz
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in St Paul's

  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Take care with heavy pans near edges

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use particularly around the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can frequently be sanded and refinished.

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface bonded to a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Do you need worktop repair in St Paul's?

The worst damage often happens in a moment: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Damage around the sink cut-out
  • A heat mark or burn
  • Dents and gouges
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface

Before booking anyone
