FAQs for Stamperland

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

How much do I need to move?

Just clear the area around the damage. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

What affects the price in Stamperland

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Stamperland. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What kind of damage it is

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Stamperland. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For a price in Stamperland, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First, we check the damage and the finish we need to match.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

When to call us in Stamperland

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives cut, and heavy pans chip the edges.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • Scorch marks from pans
  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How changes to the job are handled

Our hiring checklist

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate is a printed surface over a board. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. Edge chips are very common, and we fill and polish them to match the sheen.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair takes a few hours and leaves everything in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

Why Stamperland customers choose us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One visit for most repairs
  • A fixed quote before booking

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Watch the edges with heavy pans
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Dry around the sink and joints

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. An early repair prevents it.
