Repair or replace: which is better?
Stone and quartz tops are templated and cut to fit, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Your questions about worktop repair in Trewalchmai
How much does worktop repair cost in Trewalchmai?
Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the entire item with your LL65 postcode.
Which areas do you work in?
All of Isle of Anglesey, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.
Will the repair match a patterned worktop?
Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, for a repair that blends in.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.
How much do I need to move?
Only the area we’re working on. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
What we do, step by step
The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.
- We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
- Burnt or loose material is cut back.
- We fill and shape the damaged area.
- The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
- We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.
How to prepare
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice
Landlord and trade work in Trewalchmai
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Trewalchmai as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Different materials, different repairs
Solid surface
Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.
Wood
Timber tops can be sanded and refinished, and burns and dents repaired.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best:
- Use a chopping board
- Never put hot pans down directly
- Keep wood oiled
- Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.
Don’t leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.
What a repair can’t fix
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Cracks right through stone that has moved
- Discolouration deep in quartz
- A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
