We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.
Worktop repair in Walker Barn, done in place
The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. We build up the colour and flecks by hand so the repair blends in. Common call-outs are for chips near the sink and chips on edges and corners, in solid wood, laminate and quartz.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Honest limits
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Through cracks in stone that is moving
- Laminate swollen by water from underneath
- Severe heat marks in quartz
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.
What we work on
- Solid surface (such as Corian)
- Laminate
- Granite & marble
- Quartz
- Solid wood
Keeping it looking good
It’s all simple stuff:
- Always use a trivet for hot pans
- Re-oil timber worktops
- Take care with heavy pans near edges
- Use a chopping board
Always use a trivet and chopping board, wipe spills straight away, and keep wooden tops oiled.
A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Walker Barn. The price depends on:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How many items we do on one visit
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Getting a price from photos
Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:
- Something in shot to show the size
- The material, if you know it
- Natural light rather than flash
- One sharp close-up of the damage
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole worktop, we can price the job.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
What happens on the day
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
- Burnt or loose material is cut back.
- The area is filled and shaped.
- We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
- It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Clear the area around the damage
Ask for a price
There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Walker Barn: your questions answered
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Will there be a smell?
A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.
Can you repair a chipped quartz worktop?
Yes, frequently. We match the colour and polish the repair.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Quartz
Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them.
Laminate
Laminate is a printed surface over a board. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated.
Repairing versus replacing in Walker Barn
Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
