Worktop repair for Waterfront homes

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

How we handle worktop repair in Waterfront

A damaged worktop doesn’t have to mean a new kitchen. We fill and refinish the damage to blend into the surface around it. We work on solid wood, granite & marble and quartz, and common reasons people get in touch are a damaged sink edge and chips in quartz or granite.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Waterfront and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can often be sanded out and refinished.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not cut directly on the worktop
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Do not knock pans against the edge

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Edge chips can get bigger, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.

Questions from Waterfront

How much do I need to move?

Just clear the area around the damage. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you match the pattern on my worktop?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand so it blends in.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a morning or an afternoon. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire worktop, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Water-swollen laminate
  • Severe heat marks in quartz

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Repairing versus replacing in Waterfront

Even a single new length of worktop means templating, cutting and refitting the sink and hob. A repair is a few hours with everything left in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
