How we handle worktop repair in Widmore

The hard part of a worktop repair is matching the pattern. Colour, flecks and veining are recreated by hand. We are frequently asked to fix chips in quartz or granite and scratches and knife marks, across laminate, solid surface (such as Corian) and quartz.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated by hand.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow a few hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Widmore questions

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Widmore.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Can a scorch mark be fixed?

In most cases. A photo lets us check what’s possible.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, and that includes Widmore. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Water-swollen laminate
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What affects the price in Widmore

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Widmore. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the entire worktop

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and reconnecting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. Repairing the damage keeps your existing worktop. Prices start from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

When to call us in Widmore

Worktops take more punishment than anything else in the kitchen. Hot pans leave burns, knives leave scratches, and heavy pans chip the edges.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Chips on edges and corners
  • A heat mark or burn
  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • A chipped quartz edge

What your quote should include

  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What happens if they find more damage

How to compare quotes

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Widmore

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
