Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t cut directly on the worktop
  • Oil wooden tops regularly
  • Wipe up spills quickly
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge

Wipe water away from joints and around the sink, especially on laminate and wood.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse particularly around the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

Repairing versus replacing in Wilshaw

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing a section takes time and money. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill with a filler suited to the material and rebuild any missing edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Repairs by material

Quartz

Quartz worktops are mostly stone set in resin. We fill and polish chipped edges to match the sheen.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Wilshaw

  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood

When to call us in Wilshaw

Around the sink, water gets into joints on laminate and wood, which can cause swelling.

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Scratches and knife marks
  • Damage from fitting or building work
  • Damage around the sink cut-out
