Need bath re-enamelling in Abergwynfi?

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a full day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

Bath re-enamelling in Abergwynfi, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We are often asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Neath Port Talbot.

Common questions in Abergwynfi

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. This is what makes a difference:

  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Should you replace it?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why book with us

  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Work done at your home or business

Take a look at our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we’re called out for in Abergwynfi

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
