Repair or replace in Ancaster?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Ancaster

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is normally the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. If you’re dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help, whatever the material.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

What affects the price in Ancaster

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Ancaster, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ancaster

If you manage property in Ancaster, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Common questions in Ancaster

How long does re-enamelling last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send photos.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
