Bath re-enamelling near Aston Clinton

About our bath re-enamelling in Aston Clinton

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. We work on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about a peeling or bubbling previous coating and lots of chips and rust spots.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Aston Clinton and across Buckinghamshire.

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the following day. Prices start from £350. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why Aston Clinton clients choose us

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One visit for most repairs

Read our prices page or bath cost comparison.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Quotes from your photos

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Most clients in Aston Clinton get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Aston Clinton: your questions answered

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Are there extra charges for Aston Clinton?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

What happens on the day

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
