How we handle bath re-enamelling in Austendike

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Austendike. The price reflects:

  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Austendike, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Austendike questions

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Will the new finish last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a full day. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Store bottles off the bath

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Austendike?

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. The body of the bath is generally perfectly sound.

Most people contact us after spotting one of these:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • A roll-top that is seen better days

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
