Need bath re-enamelling in Baglan?

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Bath re-enamelling in Baglan, done in place

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you’re dealing with worn patches where water runs and sits and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, we can help, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays alike.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Neath Port Talbot.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, with the bath back in use the following day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What affects the price in Baglan

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access to the area
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Baglan. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in Baglan, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Landlord and trade work in Baglan

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes the best part of a day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
