Balterley questions

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Balterley

We do not move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. We regularly repair acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people get in touch are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and wear marks under the taps.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • A fixed quote before booking

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Balterley

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Balterley as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we are called out for in Balterley

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Most people contact us when they notice something like this:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An old resurfacing that is failing

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

How it works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
