How we handle bath re-enamelling in Batch
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. Whether it’s stains that won’t shift and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Repair or replace in Batch?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

What happens on the day
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to the best part of a day.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
Advice
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Batch
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Normally, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
How soon can you come?
It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Do the materials smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.
Does re-enamelling smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.
Can you quote from photos?
In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
What affects the price in Batch
Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Batch. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Quotes from your pictures
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

What a repair can’t fix
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
Common problems we fix in Batch
Often the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
What your quote should include
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- What protection goes down before work starts
For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Batch as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in North Somerset and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
