How we handle bath re-enamelling in Berriew

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. If you’re dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and chips and rust in more than one place, we can typically put it right, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops alike.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Berriew: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

We cover the entire UK, including Berriew and the rest of Powys. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Berriew

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Berriew as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes the best part of a day for most jobs. The room is left tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Berriew

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

What we are called out for in Berriew

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • When it can be used again
